SECASA Schools Program is a comprehensive suite of prevention programs developed by SECASAFV to create a culture of respect, consent, and healthy relationships in schools building safer and empowered communities.
We facilitate protective behaviour education programs in the following local government areas and shires.
Built on a trauma-informed framework, our model offers protective behaviours and personal safety education, with the aim being to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. Some of the key topics covered are:
Early intervention and prevention through education and awareness
Raising awareness of body safety and safe relationships
Providing education and the language to empower young people
Responding to disclosures and signs of child sexual abuse
Equipping young people with skills and strategies to enhance online safety
Empowering young people to make informed choices through understanding consent and respecting boundaries
The programs are available across the school community supporting senior management, teachers, students and parents to understand the importance of implementing and practicing key strategies to ensure safety for children, equip young people with skills and strategies to foster positive attitudes and respectful relationships leading to safer and more inclusive communities.
Our educational programs and workshops have been developed in collaboration with specialists in mental health, primary prevention, education, and youth work. We consistently engage in consultations and research to guarantee that our initiatives adhere to the highest standards and show respect for diverse sensitivities. Furthermore, all SECASA workshops are mapped to relevant State and National curriculum guidelines.

The Feeling Safe Together program is a protective behaviours program developed for primary school aged children including early learning centres. Each year level receives tailored information based on age appropriate materials. The program focuses on empowerment, communication, self-esteem, resilience and social skills. The program aims to provide children with the tools and strategies to face uncertain situations or environments in a safer way, keeping in mind however, that it is ultimately always the responsibility of an adult to ensure a child is protected and safe. As part of a commitment to a whole school approach, separate teacher and parent training sessions are also available.

The SOARR program is designed for students aged 11 to 15 years as they begin to explore unfamiliar online content and establish connections with individuals through online platforms. The primary objective is to empower young individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to comprehend their digital footprint and navigate the online world securely and respectfully. SOARR addresses a wide range of challenges young people encounter regularly online, offering them guidance on where to seek assistance when needed.
Emphasis is placed on cultivating respectful online relationships, safeguarding one’s personal safety and ensuring the safety of others in the digital age. Additionally, the program educates young participants about current legislation pertaining to online activities, with a specific focus on fostering safe and responsible engagement with online content.

The Respect, Protect, Connect program is a respectful relationships program for high school aged children. Each year level receives tailored information based on age appropriate materials. The Respect, Protect, Connect program aims to increase awareness within the school community on the issue of sexual assault and family violence. The program will also assist young people to have ongoing conversations with their caregiver about sexuality, relationships and sex. The program focuses on empowering young people to make informed decisions. It aims to educate young people on the broader definition of family violence and sexual assault and its impact on their health and emerging relationships. Respect, Protect, Connect provides young people with an understanding of current legislation and how young people can engage safely with online materials. As part of a commitment to a whole school approach, separate teacher and parent training sessions are also available.

The Special schools program is a protective behaviour education program designed to suit the cognitive abilities of students attending a specialist school setting. Our primary goal is to enhance an awareness of personal safety, online safety and foster respectful and healthy relationships. We use an inclusive and interactive approach to facilitate the program making it participatory and engaging using facilitation techniques such as visual aids, critical thinking and storytelling. Additionally we share experiences and integrate elements from established programs to facilitate the key topics.
